Joan Collins CONCERTS and performances by “hip hop” groups, a graffiti competition and various exhibitions of “skateboarding” and “breakdancing” will be some of the activities on offer at “Hipalma”, the first “hip hop” culture festival organised in Palma, which will be held at Son Moix on August 12. The Festival coincides with Youth Day and is organised by six youth organisations in collaboration with Palma council's councillor for Youth and Sports and various companies. It was presented yesterday at a press conference by the director general of Youth, Esperanza Crespi. Crespi explained that the festival will have concerts from the groups Falsalarma, Chojin, Hipnotik and NNC No Nos Conoces, as well as the guest disc jockeys Don Manolo Pinchadiscos, Saez Aka, Dj Omino and Lup's Digga. “A skateboarding competition is also being organised”, said Crespi, who explained that there will be an exhibition of “breakdancing” during which the young people will be able to dance “to the rythm of the music played by the guest disc jockeys”. Crespi confirmed that another of the main attractions will be a graffiti competition, in which people from the ages of 14 to 35 can compete. There will be two categories, groups and single people. They hope that this will attract people from “all over the country”. Crespi explained that various graffiti writing partners had been invited, who will mount an exhibition during the festival. Among these will be Dark y Sop, Jes y Chil and Mets y Noer, all from Madrid. You can register to enter the competition from July 3 to 31. The price of registration is 15 euros for groups and 7 euros for individuals, and the participants will have to present their DNI and authorisation from their parents if they are minors. The competition will begin at 5.30pm with the allocation of boards for the graffiti, and will end at 10.30pm with the verdict of the jury.
