New building

LLUCMAJOR
THE multi-functioning building constructed in Bahia Grande will officially be opened this Saturday. The aim of this building is to bring the town council nearer to the residents in the capital of Migjorn. Llucmajor has a 40 km coastline that has many different regions and growing populations. This building will mean that the residents in S'Estanyol, Son Bieló, Cala Pi, Vallgornera, Es Pas, Tolleric, Sa Torre, Bahia Grande, Bahia Azul, Maioris, Bellavista, Las Palmeras, Son Verí Nou and Son Veri Vell will not have to travel to the central administration building in Llucmajor to complete all the necessary paperworks during the year. Instead they will be able to use this building for their needs. This building will also mean that the twon council in Llucmajor will not be as busy as it usual is. The building will accomodate an eldery age club, municipal offices, rooms for multiple residents associations and for cultural events and a library.

Little help

COMARCAS
THERE are only three town councils (Vilafranca, Escorca and Campanet) in Majorca who have applied for grants from the Council of majorca in order to improve and create more “green areas”, these being the recycling collection points. The Council of Majorca agreed in the 2005 Works and Services Plan, to grant an additional 5 percent to these type of green projects, but currently there has not been much success. “Unfortunatley”, said Domingo Bonnin, Head of Local Co-operation Department, “these type of projects are not a priority for town councils, as there are many more urgent requirements”.
