AFTER no less than 19 years of applications, the Council of Majorca has finally turned its back on the possibility of a golf course and hotel being built on unspoilt countryside at Son Baco in the municipality of Campos..

The Council brought to an end the classification of the land as an area set aside for “general public interest” which in the past would have permitted the development of a golf course there. Balearic ecological watchdog GOB were then particularly pleased that the Council has subsequently recategorised the land at Son Baco as a protected rural site where no building at all is permitted.
