PALMA
THE Palma metro should be back in operation at the end of this month.
Final tests are due to begin on the metro next week and the Balearic Minister for Transport, Gabriel Vicens, expects it to be running by the end of July.

The metro has been closed since last September to repair design faults which led to it becoming flooded during heavy rains.
Vicens said: “If we have to open it at the beginning of August, so be it, but the more probable is that it will be the end of July.” Vicens pointed out that though the metro would be reopening in the next 15 to 20 days, it didn't mean that “all the deficiencies have been resolved, because there remain things to do”. These include the repair of the lifts, glass roofs and some drainage works.

Vicens added that the resolution of the conflict with the SFM workers meant the reopening was not now in danger.
