Ainhoa Arteta is not just one of Spain’s leading sopranos, she is one of the greats on the world stage.
The daughter of a classical composer, José Ramón Arteta, she studied at the conservatory in San Sebastian before moving to the States. The winner of numerous awards, such as the Spanish culture ministry’s gold medal for merit in the fine arts, her repertoire and discography have been extensive - Bizet, Britten, Mozart, Puccini, Strauss to name but a few. She is very well known in Spain, and not just for opera. She has appeared on various popular TV programmes. These include the Spanish version of Celebrity Masterchef. A recent unauthorised biography has been the subject of a great deal of interest.
Her performances in Mallorca in the past include Donna Elvira in Mozart’s Don Giovanni at the Teatre Principal in Palma. She is returning to a venue where she has previously sung - the Palacio de Congresos.
