Leia Zhu is seventeen.

Born in Newcastle, she made her first public performance as a violinist at the age of four. This was as at the North East Last Night of the Proms at Newcastle City Hall. Her international performance career started at the age of nine, and she has played venues such as the Royal Festival Hall and with orchestras like the Russian State Symphony.

The invited soloist for the Balearic Symphony Orchestra's concert number four at the auditorium, Leia Zhu will be taking the lead for Antonin Dvorak's Violin Concerto, Op. 53, which the Czech composer wrote in 1878 after meeting Hungarian violinist Joseph Joachim, one of the most significant violinists of the nineteenth century.

The programme also comprises Franz Schubert's 'Unfinished' Symphony No. 7.
