The International Masters Cycling Week is one of the events in Mallorca which has extending the season firmly in mind.
Backed by the Council of Mallorca’s Tourism Foundation and the Balearic government’s Aetib tourism strategy agency, it attracts riders from Spain and other countries.
The week consists of four stages, with the culmination being the European Masters Cup. This starts and finishes in Alcudia, the route being towards Puerto Pollensa and on to Pollensa and Sa Pobla.
There are four categories, for which some 300 cyclists are expected to compete. One of the overall winners of last year’s week was Briton Chris McNamara.
For the Master’s races, the medals were dominated by British and Spanish riders. Two Mallorcans were among the medals.
