IT will be a question of home from home for British and Spanish expatriates thanks to a deal El Corte Inglés has reached with Tesco, the British supermarket giant. Spanish food products, courtesy of the Spanish department store, will now be available at certain branches of the British supermarket chain in Britain. The move will not only cheer Britons with a taste for Spanish food but also the thousands of Spaniards (including many Majorcans) who now live in Britain.

And El Corte Inglés will be returning the favour. The store, which has two branches in Palma, will soon start offering Tesco products in their supermarkets, which will certainly cheer many British expats and even some tourists. The move into Britain started in November 2015 with a trial run of El Corte Inglés Spanish products in supermarkets in London. The move proved successful and now it has been extended to other branches.

A spokesperson for El Corte Inglés said today that this was all part of their international expansion and to promote Spanish food products across the globe. Among the Spanish products which will be on sale at Tesco stores are cold meats, olive oil, olives and much more.
