This morning, the Guardia Civil were alerted to a strange smell coming from a vessel moored in the yacht club in Puerto Andratx.

The Judicial brigade of the Guardia Civil was put in charge of the investigation and the Guardia Cicvil were forced to cordon off the area due to the influx of on lookers who were keen to see what was going on.

The body on board was that of a French yachtsman, identified as Ceresne Poilippe, who on 26 May was due to celebrate his 49th birthday. He had set sail from France to Majorca towards the end of last month on board his yacht Centhalie. He apparently moored at the yacht club on 26 April.

A few days ago, Ceresne’s family contacted the Air Sea Rescue service in the Balearics to report that they had heard nothing from the 48-year-old, who had set out for Majorca but who was not picking up his mobile.

Air Sea Rescue contacted the Andratx Yacht Club to see if the yacht was moored in there and it was. The Guardia Civil then headed down to the yacht yesterday and found the missing man’s body. Foul play has been ruled out at this stage.
