Real Valladolid 1 - Real Mallorca 3

So, the final round of matches in Spain's second division this season. Mallorca, away at Valladolid, with nothing to play for; Mallorca, everything to play for, as relegation to the obscurity of Liga Segunda B threatened. As much as eyes were on the Valladolid José Zorilla stadium, they were also on the matches involving fellow relegation contenders - Ponferradina against Girona and Almeria versus Cordoba.

Well, if Mallorca had thought/hoped that Valladolid would be on the beach, then they hadn't reckoned with them scoring after seven minutes, which was precisely what Villar did.

There was no questioning Mallorca's desire after this early setback, but Lago Júnior and Company were not anywhere near enough to cause Varela in the Valladolid goal any trouble. But then, just on the half-hour mark, Mallorca were back in it, Brandon providing the equaliser from a Company centre. Meanwhile, Almeria had gone one-up in Cordoba. However ... Brandon added a second just before half-time to put Mallorca ahead.

To make matters better, Cordoba had equalised against Almeria, and then Girona went ahead against Ponferradina, and when Pereira added a third for Mallorca, salvation was secured.
