Stone fair in Binissalem. | E.B.

Rate

The Binissalem stone and artisan fair was originally conceived as a means of primarily showcasing the skills of local craftspeople who work with the Binissalem stone, which is technically a marble, which comes in differing colours from dark blue to light beige.

It is predominantly used for flooring. There is still this element, but the fair has broadened in that there is stone from elsewhere and an array of designs and products.

A feature of the fair is a demonstration of the dry-stone technique by professional ‘margers’, i.e. dry-stone workers. This will be on Saturday from 10am. There are other attractions, such as a family demons correfoc and a children’s demons correfoc. Not entirely sure what the difference is between these two fire-runs; they are both on Saturday.
