Dmytro Choni was born in Kyiv.
He was four years old when he was given his first piano lesson. That was in 1997. Today, he is one of the world’s leading young pianists, he having won, among other things, the Leeds International Piano Competition.
His debut album, which was released in 2020, received the ‘supersonic award’ given by classical music magazine Pizzicato, which said that his playing emanated the aura of “the highest artistic goal and finest sensitivity”.
Olena Tokar is also from Ukraine. A soprano, she won first prize in the highly prestigious ARD International Music Competition in 2013; this is Germany’s largest international classical music competition.
They will both be performing with the Balearic Symphony Orchestra for the fifth and final summer concert at Bellver Castle. The programme includes Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3.
