Why is it that when times are hard some local restaurants raise their prices and cut back on their service? I have noticed on many occasions over the last few months that a number of local restaurants are charging far more for their dishes and the service you receive leaves a lot to be desired. I had to wait for 20 minutes for a coffee at one leading Chinese restaurant in Palma only to receive an Expresso instead of the ordered Cortado. There was a further wait of 10 minutes for the milk! On top of that the meal was poor despite the price. Even restaurants which had a reputation for offering value for money have now become rather expensive. At a time when most households are counting their pennies restaurants should be reducing their prices and not increasing them. It is a scandalous state of affairs which will probably lead me to cut back on my visits to some local restaurants. They are simply over-priced and not really worth the effort for below standard food.
