Economic news is depressing in Spain, including Majorca.
Can I suggest your paper has a competition for all your readers to come up with low cost ideas to create and grow tourism on a 365 day basis for the benefit of the island?

Not sure the politicians will listen, but you can but try.
May I start with three ideas of my own.
Long term
Use all the land between Palma Nova, Magalluf and the Motorway for a massive theme park. Try to attract a Disney or a Universal or a Centre Parc or someone else.

Medium term
Give everyone leaving the island a car sticker saying I Love Majorca (the heart shape symbol for love obviously). If people have had a good stay they will use them or at least keep them. Free advertising.

Short Term
Scrap any restriction on the short term letting of holiday accommodation. This will cost nothing, and attract the type of tourists that have been proven to spend twice as much as package holiday makers.

Some free thoughts in these terrible economic times.
