The American painter Judith Bledsoe, of Paris and Fornalutx, died peacefully on Sunday, 17 February, in the French capital. She was 84 years old.
In 1949 Judith came to Europe and spent some months in Sóller before travelling to Italy where she was married by the mayor of Florence.
In 1958 she moved to Paris and spent the rest of her life there except for her regular visits to Fornalutx.
During her lifetime she exhibited her paintings widely. Judith was the daughter of Escha Bledsoe, the concert violinist, who settled in Sóller in 1952 where she lived for many years and later lived with her husband in Fornalutx.

Judith is survived by a daughter, Katia, a son, Ivan, and grandchildren Alex and Aria.
She will be sorely missed also by her many friends.
