Dan Stevens. a former Merchant Navy officer and owner of a cruise company in Plymouth, went to the Southampton Boat Show one day, met an agent he knew and ended up buying Virgin Atlantic Challenger II, Richard Branson's 1986, record Atlantic-crossing power boat, which had been unused in Palma for several years. After an intensive seven weeks of refitting in Palma -- using the “amazing” local resources and a specialist team from the UK -- Stevens and his partner Jeremy Linford, have taken VACII to Plymouth.

But everyone connected with the rapid restoration of this historic powerboat will remember the man and his team, who brought it back to life in Palma de Mallorca.
