Dear Editor, I don't understand why on earth some tourists often complain about the weather. I know that it is rather annoying to spend holidays with rain and cloudy skies but after all those summer months without a drop of rain I think it is well welcome and many have longed for it for so long. One of the reasons why a downpour is needed is to provide and supply with water the 20.000.000 of tourists who visit during the whole of the summer. Majorca is not Germany neither Britain, we need rain. Summers are usually warm and let's hope that all the Septembers keep on like this because a lack of water is a serious hindrance to the progress of any economic activity. If Mr Atkins, (letters, “What has happened to the weather,” Tuesday) after visiting Majorca for last 30 years considers looking further afield for his next holidays, I think he should know that no-one will impede him to do so.
