Dear Sir, A TRAVEL agent has just quoted me an unbelievable price of 560 euros (about 400 pounds) for one return ticket Mahon-Luton on October 6th.
How can this price be justified? How are pensioners expected to pay this sort of money? They (and many others) won't pay it and just won't leave the island this winter to visit friends and family in the UK.

Also, we read so much about winter tourism in the Balearics, Majorca is fortunate in this respect as there is already pently to do and flight prices are lower but Menorca forget it! Bernard Murphy, Ciutadella
Dear Sir, I FIND it amazing - but not unexpected - that Environment Councillor Cataina Julve, apparantly, when taking the decision to impose a rubbish rate increase of 26 %, failed to mention the 16+ million euros the EU had given the Council, to be used to pay for rubbish disposal.

Yet again, the electorate/ratepayers are being taken for fools! The 26 % increase was decided before the Council knew of the 16 million euro injection - so perhaps they can now explain what they are going to do with that money and why we are being landed with at 26 % increase in rubbish tax?

Yours Sincerely, M. Irving, Calvia
P.S. In new of the Councils latest proposals, I and my firends will be contacting our M.E.P's, and urging that they keep a close eye on how, and on what the money given, is spent.
