By Jason Moore THE Bulletin has received a steady stream of letters over recent days over the question of winter flights. I wrote on the same subject in this space yesterday. Now, the airlines say that operating a winter service is not viable; but British residents say that it is because many are planning to return to Britain over the festive period. I am rather caught in the middle of the debate.

During the recent ABTA convention I spoke to many representatives of British airlines and they all said the same thing, there is not enough demand. So let's put it to the test; would you use winter flights on a regular basis to return to Britain? If this is the case then send me an email to jmoore@majorcadailybulletin.es. This “straw” poll could at least help settle the debate and also show the airlines that there is sufficient demand. Price would also be a key factor. I do think it is outrageous that there are no flights to Scotland during the winter. I would urge the airlines to settle for this compromise; a weekly service to Glasgow and perhaps even the same to Manchester and Birmingham. I do believe that this is an issue worth fighting for because at the end of the day we are talking about the future of Majorca. If there are no flights then there can´t be any winter tourists. We must try and persuade the airlines to change their policy so if you feel strong on this issue send me an email and if necessary the Bulletin will launch a campaign to press the airlines into action.
