Dear Sir,

Thank you for your very comprehensive coverage of the ABTA conference earlier this week. Looks like very little can be done in increasing the UK winter flights to Palma in the short term but what is under Majorca's control is making the whole airport experience more enjoyable for the travelling public. Having returned to the UK yesterday morning it was obvious that many of the airport operating staff had not been on the same page as your goodselves. Surly security staff but worst of all one of the longest immigration checks pre gate on passports in my experience.

UK flights booked solid with many returning ABTA delegates and a solitary officer trying to check details on outgoing passengers which inevitably lead to queues which took a long time to clear to the frustration of the travelling public. Must have been enlightening for the ABTA folk to see at first hand the sort of experience many of us face all too often.

Queue jumping became prevalent as people worried about missing their flights fought their way to the front and afraid to say most were the delegates themselves .

However there were a lot of vociferous tourists around who were able to provide very clear “feedback” to such errants. Not sure if was the sort of lasting memory of Majorca that we , all, would wish to promote.

Pity, Lord Archer of Western Super Mare hadn't have been around to add some levity and humour to the occasion .
Before we start chasing the Impossible , can we not make a start in doing better what we do now? A smile or two might help and go a long way in drawing people back here.

Dear Sir, I have been reading with interest, the big plans that the Melia group have for Magalluf. As a property owner I am hoping that it will be in my interest. It does sound that they want to rid Magalluf of its lager lout reputation.

Two points to consider are, that they are the ones that spend their money, and the other point is, how are they going to get rid of the prostitutes? I should imagine that the prostitutes are hoping for a wealthier clientele. I have just spent three months at my apartment, and the place is full of looky men, massage girls and prostitutes.

Although some were being caught by the police, they were back in business within ten minutes. Obviously the punishment is not enough to deter their rich pickings.
