FOR Frankel, the magnificent three-year-old who won the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot yesterday, proving without doubt in his ninth straight victory that he is currently the greatest horse in the world at one mile. Cheers also to Ascot racecourse for its ambitious inaugural Champions' Day meeting, a much-needed climax to Britain's flat racing season, which was favoured by perfect autumnal weather, a huge crowd and the result in the principal race that everyone wanted. An exhilarating lift for British sport, much needed at this time.
