Dear Sir,

WELL, the tourist season has come to an end and what a lamentable affair that was. No use trying to put a gloss on it. I talked to some business owners and their figures were terrible.

However, the world is changing. Holiday patterns are changing and it's necessary to keep up with the game. Things have moved on since the 80's & 90's. Trouble is, nobody seems to be really bothered.

The Minister of Tourism should do the decent thing and resign. Why, because he's unfit for purpose.
What did we have? An advertising campaign featuring Rafael Nadal which nobody saw. Top Gear visiting the island the main note of that being nothing to do with Majorca but Clarkson getting trapped in a toilet. Some odd events happening in UK cities. That's it. So, now the airlines realise it's a lost cause and have given up on it.

The next effect will be that the already overpriced property market will collapse as a result of people not being able to get there in the winter and the ridiculous system of holiday lets.

Well, I think it was one of the big tour operators who visited the island a couple of weeks ago and laid it on the line. Will anybody take note. I doubt it. It will still be a case of “it'll be all right on the night.” You could say wake up and smell the coffee, trouble is the coffee's moved on as well!
