Dear Sir,
I am very pleased to read that the Hotel Sis Pins has had a successful winter season and will be opening again next winter.
However they are not the only hotel in Majorca to stay open all winter. We own an agroturismo in the centre of the island and usually open every winter. This year we had to close for reforms for 3 months and had to turn away quite a few enquiries, but we will be open again next winter.
We find that although we are obviously not as busy as the summer, we do have a steady stream of visitors all year. Maybe because we are not a beach hotel, we seem to attract guests that are more interested in walking and exploring and are not so dependent on perfect weather.
The Germans seem particularly keen on this time of year, although this may be because flights from Germany are better than those from the UK and other parts of Europe.
Good luck to all hotels that remain open for the winter.

Dear Sir,
Hotels in the Balearics recorded over 173,000 overnight stays in January, a significant decline in comparison to 2012’s 291,000 the National Statistics Institute said yesterday.
If the Hotels are closed in the winter. If there are very few Flights, to and from Majorca. If all the Urbanisations are closed. If there are no attractions in winter. If The Minister for Tourism is achieving nothing for the winter. If the shops continue to close at the wrong times, and on Sunday. No Cruise Ship Tourists will enter into the Island/Palma.
If you are not open, you will not take any money. If your Councils keep increasing prices in January, then Tourists find it Too expensive (euro exchange rate decline). If those who have made considerable amounts of money, have secreted it elsewhere in the World. If those who remain, and are financially well placed, do not care what happens in the Island. If those that object to any forms of improvement, oil exploration, enhanced attractions, and ideas in general.
Then Majorca will continue to suffer decline in the winter--unemployment will increase--crime will increase--tourism will decrease--hotels will remain closed, and deteriorate, to be made completely redundant, scrapped and demolished.
Yours faithfully
