Some months ago I found a British passport at the side of the road and tried to contact the Consulate in Palma to advise them and say I would bring it to their offices as soon as possible. I finally managed (after obtaining the number from the Internet and pressing the usual frustrating option keys) to speak to someone in Malaga. I was told that the passport would be burned but thanks anyway. I was not permitted to speak to anyone at the Palma Consulate. The message would be passed on.

There are Consulates in Palma for (at least):
· Netherlands
· Germany
· France
· Ireland
· Belgium
· Switzerland
· Norway
· Sweden
· Denmark
· Morocco
· Colombia
· U.S.A.

The fact that the British Consulate has no local number is in itself appalling and now we are to be downgraded it is an almighty snub to the Balearic Islands and their British residents. Yours faithfully
