If Spain offers residency to anyone who spends 160K euros on a Spanish property, as reported in Monday's Bulletin, those persons, from anywhere in the world, will have the right to live and work anywhere in Europe, including the UK. They will be able to obtain all the benefits that country may offer to its residents, without ever having contributed anything to any European country. That any country should effectively sell European residence permits to every other country in Europe in order to line its own mismanaged coffers beggars belief, and, if that is the case, the sooner the UK leaves this European madhouse the better.
