THE sad news (although not unexpected) that Real Mallorca football club's 42year-old president Mateu Alemany is relinquishing his post with immediate effect is a major disappointment to the supporters at the Son Moix. To have been president of a Spanish La Liga side for five years speaks volumes about how good Alemany was at his job.
He oversaw Real Mallorca through good and bad times and will go down in the archives as one of the all-time great presidents.
Whoever takes over the hot seat will find Alemany a hard act to follow but I'm sure the new president will have the full backing of the fans, for a while at least, as the team enters another chapter in their roller coaster history.
