DEAR SIR,

UK TODAY

IT is a very sorry and unhappy Friday morning when the news is all about the “failed” English bid to host the World Cup in 2018 and David Cameron has yet to congratulate the winning country.

The continuing distress the UK is suffering owing to lack of gritters, planes not flying, airports closed, schools closed and trains not running all causing unequalled chaos that seems to have become the norm in the UK when snow falls.

Further adding to the chaos petrol tankers are now having difficulty delivering to stations UK wide and then, the one to cap it all, the WIKILEAKS reports from 2008 have stated that “the British are not up to the task of securing Helmand” and the British Army was considered not strong enough to work efficiently on its own in Afghanistan.

The actual quote, as broadcast by BBC World, was “they were not ready to fight as actively as American soldiers.” We cannot ignore the upset this will have caused to the families of the 345 brave British servicemen who to date have lost their lives in the line of duty for their country.

I will not be alone when I say “Oh dear oh dear what has happened to the United Kingdom”.

Carolyn M,
