Last month I wrote an article suggesting that Mallorca would do well to start considering promoting and marketing Mallorca as a destination to enjoy while saving money this winter for Britons and other northern Europeans who are going to be slapped with massive energy bills.

It was not too long ago that Britons of an age would spend the best part of the winter in hotels in Mallorca, it worked out cheaper than staying at home with the heating on for the best part of six months. Well why not give it a bash this winter? A UK company is now encouraging travellers to book a winter holiday to avoid high energy bills.

TravelTime World has launched a marketing campaign called ‘The Heat Is On’ highlighting the low cost per day of long-stay holidays. Ashley Quint, a holiday designer at the company, said the idea came about after reports that the energy price cap in the UK could be as high as £7,000 (€8,120) a year by April 2023.

The main UK tour operators have recently launched a range of winter offers to the likes of Mallorca from just £49 per night, and that covers food and heating, so perhaps if no more money is going to spent by Mallorca on promoting the saturated summer, it might be wise to splash some of the cash which has flooded in this year on giving the winter a late push.
