The temperatures in some parts of the Balearics have been high, the director of the Met Office, Agustin Jansá, said yesterday, but they have not beaten the records of earlier years. The temperature at Palma airport was 21ºC yesterday, compared to 22.4º on the same day in 1997 and 23.6º in 1989. Jansa said that the temperatures were higher than normal, but this is nothing new and has happened frequently in recent years. He added that it will be mild over the weekend.
