Sporty tourists spice up the Balearics

Sport and nature are the two growth areas of the Balearic tourist industry, according to a study carried out by the Confederation of Balearic Business Association (CAEB) and the Ministry for Tourism. Until now an in depth look into “alternative” tourism had never been carried out, but it has been established that four per cent of tourists coming to the Balearics head to the region for reasons other than the beach. Balearic Minister for Tourism, Celesti Alomar, said yesterday that the study “is very important” and will enable the sector to develop a solid platform from which sporting and nature holidays can be promoted.
