This weekend Alaior will host a Fresian cattle show which has been organised by the local council and the Insular Council's Agriculture council. The idea behind staging the event is to establish an annual event for the island's agricultural sector. Over 100 animals will be on show from 30 of the island's farms, which will all be hoping that their prize cow will win top prize. The weekend's fair in Alaior is part of a week of reflection for the island's agricultural industry which starts today and will feature a host of events, but, more importantly, a series of round table discussions about the sector and its future. On Saturday night and Sunday mid-day there will also be an equestrian display in the town.
