Palma's new bus station in Calle Eusebio Estada, beside the railway bridge, came into operation yesterday, taking many passengers unawares. A lot of passengers had not realised that the bus station was due to open and had gone to the temporary stops in Calles Marques de Fuensanta and Miquel Marques, which they had been using for the past two and a half years. As a result, many of them missed their bus. But at least they could wait in more comfort for the next one. The station is for buses which connect Palma with outlying towns and villages and it is used by several different companies. Most of the passengers agreed that the new station is comfortable and offers seating and protection against the elements, something which they did not have before. The drivers also expressed their approval, although they did have some minor complaints. One of the biggest problems is the traffic light just past the exit, which can lead to traffic problems. They would also like to see more parking space for buses not in service. There were delays in various services provided by the companies Caldentey, DarBus and Aumasa in the morning, because of traffic jams at the Can Blau roundabout from where the buses take the Manacor road.
