Real Mallorca were yesterday on cloud nine after Sunday's important 2-0 victory over Tenerife at Son Moix Stadium in Palma. Mallorca went in to the game treating the clash as the “first big final” and coach Kresic said after the match that the most important things “were the three points.” The win has lifted Mallorca from the penultimate position at the bottom of the league to third from bottom. Samuel Eto'o gave Mallorca the lead with a penalty 10 minutes before halftime after his strike partner Alberto Luque was brought down on the left of the area. Miquel Soler struck in injury-time to seal the Mallorca win. Kresic believes that Mallorca are rapidly pulling themselves out of the rut the side fell into under the guideance of German coach Kraus and that with a bit more time “the brilliance will shine through,” said Kresic. “We were far superior to Tenerife and the result was well deserved,” the coach added. Kresic admitted that the side had to work hard for the win “we suffered a lot, the public, the players, everybody, but we achieved what we had set out to do, and that was to win.” Kresic believes that the penalty decision was correct, but Tenerife's coach Jose Mel disagrees, he says that it was a penalty. Mel thinks that Tenerife were hard done by. “We played well, all that was lacking was a goal.”
