The met office released its Christmas weather forecast yesterday and temperatures in the Balearics over the next week may even reach 20ºC at times while the rest of the country is lashed by high winds, torrential rain, snow and low temperatures. The odd isolated shower can be expected in the Balearics today and tomorrow, but for the most part of next week, skies will be clear with cloudy intervals. On Monday and Tuesday, the mainland will be swamped by torrential rain, but the met office said yesterday that the storm clouds are not expected to reach the Mediterranean with temperatures remaining steady. Moderate to strong winds will blow across mainland Spain, in the Balearics winds will be south westerly and moderate. In fact, today is the first day of winter, but with all the shops open and mild temperatures, it is going to be a great Sunday for Christmas shopping. Christmas Day will see little change in the weather and those who headed up to the hills for snowball fights and hot chocolate last year on Boxing Day will have to find another pastime on Thursday.... although bets are being taken on a white New Year in the Balearics as the met office will not be releasing the long term New Year forecast until next Saturday.
No white christmas for majorca this year...
It snowed on boxing day last year in the Balearics, but not this yer
