The Balearic government called last night for the people of Majorca to support today's peace march through the streets of Palma, which could be the biggest the island has ever seen. The march starts at 6pm in the Plaza España and it will be headed by Balearic leader Francesc Antich. Extra police officers will be on duty and police called on motorists to avoid the city centre this afternoon. Similar demonstrations are taking place across the world today and as many as 500'000 people are expected in London.
