Staff reporter BALEARIC Tourism Minister Joan Flaquer travels to Poland on Monday as part of his plan to promote the Balearics as a holiday destination to the new members of the European Union.

The Minister will be accompanied by members from the hotel federation, the Minorcan and Ibizan tourist boards and the association of travel agents.
Flaquer and the Balearic delegation will be holding a series of meetings with Polish tour firms and low cost airlines which are already operating to many of the main European cities.

The promotional trip is being co-ordinated by the Spanish Tourism Office in Warsaw. Flaquer will also be holding a press conference at the tourist office to explain what the Balearics has to offer and the new green card initiative which is to get its grand launch at the FITUR travel trade fair in Madrid later this month.

Flaquer believes that the new European Union member states can play an important role in the future of the Balearic tourist industry.
