Staff Reporter THE Balearic Transport ministry said yesterday that it was making a point of encouraging people in the Islands to use public coach travel. Through promoting lower tariffs when passengers use the coaches in conjunction with other services such as the train and metro, and increasing the frequency of the service, the government hopes to persuade people to leave their cars at home.

Minister Gabriel Vicens said that 29 routes are currently eligible for the “combined tariff” reductions, 44 percent of the total number of coach services across the Island. Another five will soon be added to the list, he said.
