Palma.—National and Local Police were on the hunt yesterday for a pyromaniac who set light to a van in Palma in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
The vehicle was reportedly torched after 3am outside Number 40 in Calle General Ricardo Ortega in Palma.
Initial investigations suggest that the fire, which threatened to spread to other vehicles, was originally started in a van standing outside the property. The van was eventually burned to a crisp.

Once the alarm was raised, Local and National Police and the Fire Service rushed to the scene and the flames were extinguished.
When officers arrived, it was clear that the fire was getting a rapid hold and they decided to break the side windows of the cars which were parked on either side of the van.

Although the move damaged the vehicles, enabling access for Emergency services to remove them from the scene of the inferno saved the cars from following the same fate as the van.

In the same street, six fires - all assumed to have been deliberately started - have happened so far this year.
