Palma. The Councillor responsible for security in Palma, Guillem Navarro has appointed Local Police Inspector Miquel Quetglas as the technical head of the new Civil Defence Group.
Quetglas is licensed in Law and Political Science. He has ample experience in Civil Defence as twelve years ago he was one of the founding members of a group in Soller.
At the full City Council meeting held last month, all councillors of all political groups agreed on the principle of setting up a first Civil Defence group in Palma.
Volunteers
It is very important that all those who wish to form part of a voluntary Civil Defence Group register with the Volunteers' agency in Palma, said Quetglas yesterday.
Applications can be made on line, by telephone or by going in person to the agency's offices, added the Inspector.
All volunteers will attend a meeting during the first week of December and initial training courses will begin, Quetglas said, paying tribute to the selflessness of volunteers who give of their free time and ability for the benefit of others.
