José María Rodríguez, ex Central Government delegate in the Balearics and former Interior Minister for the Partido Popular (PP) who has been implicated in the “Over Marketing” corruption scandal, said yesterday in court in Palma that he had never paid any money, “in black or in any other colour” to Daniel Mercado, the head of the company which had masterminded the PP election campaigns of 2003 and 2007.

Rodríguez said that he had no knowledge of a document found in the offices of the Over Marketing company alleging that he was still to pay a further 88'000 euros to the company for services in the election campaigns.
