BALEARIC Transport Minister, Gabriel Vicens confirmed yesterday that the extension of the Majorcan railway service won't involve a track running into the tourist area of Cala Millor, thus quietening local council fears that the town will be geographically “split in two” by the new line. However, separately, at a meeting held yesterday with the Mayor of Son Servera, Josep Barrientos, Vincens said that it's not a question of money, but rather that the government wants the train to be a fast and efficient means of getting from point “A” to “B”. “We can't stop off in all the tourist zones around the coast,” he said, adding that he nevertheless envisaged that the rail service will run as far as Cala Rajada.
