THREE cars and a van were destroyed by fire yesterday afternoon in a defunct warehouse in Calle Andreu Torrens, in Palma.
The former Desguaces Noel garage is situated in the future “green site”, an area in which there is a lot of work going on. At 3.20pm dense black smoke poured out of the holes in the roof of the warehouse, forming a cloud over the Lluis Sitjar stadium. Residents and witnesses called the 112 emergency service and the Fire Brigade from the Sa Teulera park station. They rushed to the scene together with half a dozen local police officers. The metal shutters of the warehouse had been forced but it has not yet been established whether they were forced yesterday or if they were already open. What appears to be clear is that the fire was intentional. The flames destroyed three cars and a van and blackened the entire warehouse.
