PALMA
ABOUT 100 people gathered in silence for five minutes yesterday outside the council offices in Palma to express their rejection of the murder of the ex-Socialist councillor, Isaias Carrasco in Mondragon on Friday at the hands of the Basque terrorist organisation ETA.

Afterwards, the Balearic President Francesc Antich said he was confident that those who had committed the murder would be brought to justice “as soon as possible”. He said the high turnout in Sunday's General Election had shown that “nobody could have influence in a democracy through violence”.
