PALMA
MEMBERS of the Local Police who carry firearms during their day-to-day work will have to pass a psychological test every three years.
The Balearic Minister for the Interior, María Angeles Leciñena, will today sign a deal with the President of the College of Psychologists of the Balearics, Javier Torres, to carry out the tests.

All municipalities in the Balearics will be obliged to carry out the tests under the Local Police legislation passed last June.
The tests are designed to detect character anomalies that could be imcompatible with the use of firearms, guaranteeing the safety of citizens.
A total of 2'000 police officers will have to pass the test.
Under the deal signed today, municipalities throughout the Balearics will be put in contact with professional psychologists.
