Spain reigns in the poll of the best loved summer holiday destinations, with the much loved Canary island of Tenerife, which has been attracting British holidaymakers from as early as the 19th Century with its year round sunshine, coming in a close second.

Neighbouring Portugal with its great value family resorts across the Algarve region took bronze.
