STAFF REPORTER SINCE 2005, the Spanish National Police force has been investigating an illicit sales network, purportedly operating from the Balearics, which includes the fraudulent selling to innocent customers of batches of bogus Viagra and other medication.

The “brains” behind the scam allegedly belong to two Britons and an American but so far no arrests have been made and there has been no substantial progress on the case.

A spokesman at National police headquarters in Palma confirmed yesterday that three years ago, a number of people related to the scam - which had robbed some 50'000 Europeans from different countries to the tune of millions of euros - had been arrested in connection with a warrant issued by a court in Saarbrücken in Germany.

Police are well aware that the three fraudsters are living in different towns on Majorca and although the case remains open, “there is nothing new.”
