THE price of tobacco in the Balearics in February fell by 4.4 percent in comparison with January.
This means that there has been a fall in the cost of tobacco of 7.6 percent so far this year.
Throughout the whole of Spain there has been a fall in the price of tobacco of 4.3 percent in February in comparison with the prices in January.
This is according to figures published by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
The INE figures say that since the beginning of the year the cost of cheroots (mini cigars) has fallen by 7.4 percent.
At the same time, the price of poultry rose by 2.2 percent in February compared with January's prices.
This was above the national average of 1.8 percent.
However, since the beginning of January the price of poultry has risen by 8.3 percent in the Balearics.
This is a similar rise to the national average which is 8.2 percent.
