Antonio Alberca, the new lawyer of ex Balearic President Jaume Matas, is to appeal a recent court ruling that has refused permission for Matas to have his bail lowered from 3 million to 750'000 euros. Matas, currently under investigation on suspicion of misappropriating public funds in the Palma Arena corruption scandal, has had his luxurious house in central Palma seized by the courts. Meanwhile he needs to find a further 1.6 million euros to elude prison for a separate charge.
