THE main tour operators in Holland have expressed their interest in the cycle routes in the Balearic Islands.
As Holland is a great lover of cycling, the Dutch tour operators are very keen that more cycle routes are created here, said the Balearic Government in a communique. The Minister for Tourism, Joan Flaquer, went to Holland this week with the Director of the Balearic Tourism Institute (IBATUR), Raimundo Alabern.
The two figures met with Dutch tour operators and local press to talk about general information on the islands, as well as tourism.
This promotional tour is part of a government campaign to recuperate markets that have stopped coming to the islands, as is the case for Holland.
In the last few years there has been a “considerable” decrease in the number of Dutch tourists coming to the Balearic Islands.
At the meeting, Joan Flaquer talked in detail about the up and running island projects, such as cycle routes, tourism police and clean up operations
