Palma.—Yesterday was a day of mixed emotions in Majorca.
A 40-year-old German holiday maker, tragically died, after falling from the fourth floor balcony of his hotel in the Playa de Palma, while the 24-year-old Briton who fell from a seventh floor balcony in Magalluf last Thursday, came out of casualty at Son Espases Hospital.

His family is understood to have flown to Majorca yesterday morning and was reported to be talking well with family and friends. The 24-year-old, who was on holiday with a group of friends, had been placed in an induced coma after he fell more than 60ft from the Magaluf Playa apartments.

Doctors, however, do not yet know when he will be able to return home.
Sadly, the 40-year-old German tourist, who was admitted to Son Espases Hospital alive, but in a critical condition, after paramedics first attended him at the scene, he died as a result of the multiple injuries sustained in the fall.

The incident happened at 3.35am and a full investigation has been opened in the cause of the fatal and tragic accident.
The German, identified as Enrico Hoer, becomes the third person to have died as a result of a balcony fall, in the Balearics this summer.
It appears that Hoer, who was on holiday wit h a 43-year-old friend fainted, before falling from the balcony at the rear of the hotel.
The autopsy results are expected today.
